Your tips Do invest in a Vienna Card it is really useful for going to places beyond the centre, there is a really excellent transport system. Do go to cake and coffee in the Centre, Cafe Sacher was lovely, especially the torte. The Kunsthistorisches Museum is huge so do give yourself time, it is well rewarded, with lots of very famous paintings (also nice alternative to Klimt with everything).
KLM was one of the few airlines who can do joined up to Vienna from Glasgow. They were wonderfully relaxed especially when I had only 30 minutes to make my next flight at Schipol (many thanks the ladies at C9). The hotel was a lovely old palace (you can see the grandeur in the stairways) and were really helpful Radisson Blu Palais. Vienna itself was wonderful with amazing galleries, modern art, cake and coffee shops. Its prices were reasonable given it was a capital city and it is really easy to walk all central sites.
